Wildwood Historical Society Coronavirus Protocols May 2020

Writer's picture: Wildwood Historical Society Wildwood Historical Society

The Wildwood Historical Society and George Boyer Museum are dedicated to the safety of our staff, volunteers and patrons. Therefore, when the state of NJ allows museums to reopen as part of Phase 2 of the Road Back recovery initative, we will take the following measures to combat the spread of COVID-19:

  • Hand sanitizer and tissues are available at the front desk. Hand soap and paper towels, as always, are available in the restroom.

  • All persons who enter the museum are required to wear a face covering. This includes staff, volunteers and patrons.

  • Patrons are expected to sanitize before and after touching any surfaces in the museum, especially books, binders and other artifacts. Patrons are discouraged from touching surfaces wherever possible.

  • All individuals and parties who enter the museum should maintain social distancing when possible, keeping 6 feet between themselves and other individuals and parties.

  • Staff and volunteers will be asked their level of comfort before being required to work. We do not wish to put anyone at risk, especially those who are, or who live with, immunocompromised individuals.

  • Staff and volunteers are asked to sanitize after making transactions and touching surfaces.

  • Staff and volunteers will not handle credit cards or the card reader when making transactions. Patrons will swipe their card or insert chip into the reader themselves.

  • Staff who have symptoms should notify the supervisor before coming to work so shifts may be switched/covered. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER MUSEUM IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OF AN ILLNESS.

  • Staff and volunteers will wipe surfaces during down time. Frequently touched surfaces will be wiped as frequently as possible. Staff and volunteers will perform deep cleanings after hours.

  • Patrons will not sign the guestbook. Instead, staff will ask for the party name, number of individuals in the party, and time arrived, and a staff member will record this into the guestbook themselves.

  • The maximum number of patrons allowed in the museum at one time is 1 party per small room and 2 parties per large room. If capacity is exceeded, the patrons who have been in the museum longest will kindly be asked to return at another day or time.

  • Chairs in the TV viewing room and reading room will be spread out per CDC regulations. Seating may be reduced.

  • One-way arrows on the floor will guide patrons where to walk safely.

Thank you for understanding, and for working with us to encourage a safe museum experience.

Sincerely,

Taylor Henry, president
